University of Milano-Bicocca - Extra Plus Program

Description

Each candidate should designate two tutors/advisors, one belonging to his/her University of origin and one belonging to the University of Milano-Bicocca. The evaluating Committee will assign the EXTRAPLUS award according to the established criteria.

The Competition is based on academic qualifications. Incomplete applications or applications which do not meet the requirements will not be included in the pass-list.

The evaluating Committee will rate the submitted applications according to predetermined criteria, assigning up to 50 points for the student’s CV and up to 50 points for the research project.

Applications should reach a minimum score of 70/100 to be included in the pass-list. The evaluating Committee will estimate the thesis projects’ innovative content and market potential, with particular regard to subjects related to sustainable development issues.

The Committee will notify successful applicants by publishing the final pass-list on the University official website http://www.unimib.it , click on ‘Mobilità Internazionale’ -> ‘EXTRAPLUS ‘ -> ‘Esiti’.

Eligibility

EU and non-EU applicants must be regularly enrolled in a postgraduate course.

Benefits

The project aims to train young high-potential, capable of working roles after graduating in technical / scientific, economic, legal, socio-anthropological and so on activities typical of the various relevant sectors socio - economic (services to Cooperation, Development sustainable production and manufacturing), bringing the added value of experience and foreground doing the thesis work at foreign research institutes and centers of high-level (And a good knowledge of a foreign language immediately spendable).

The University grants an amount of € 750,00 gross per month to successful applicants, as a contribution to their travel, board and lodging expenses. The grant is subject to tax and contributions as stated by the Italian law.

The final application must include the following documents:

  • curriculum vitae et studiorum, in English, EU CV template available at the following link:

  • photocopy of a valid ID or passport;
  • certification of academic studies (in English) indicating all the exams taken during the postgraduate cycle and related marks, duly signed by the tutor/advisor at the University of origin (form available at: https://www.unimib.it/cm/goxml/Home/English/MENU-DX/International-Programs/EXTRA);
  • two original copies of the Co-tutorship Bilateral Agreement, duly stamped and signed at the University of origin;
  • curriculum vitae of the tutor/advisor at the University of origin, in English;
  • two letters of reference, in English.

Additional information

Erasmus/Exchange students or any students participating into other mobility programs are eligible to apply in the EXTRAPLUS Program only for a one-month extension of their study period at the University of Milano-Bicocca.The specific Co-tutorship Bilateral Agreement is necessary to be enrolled at the University of Milano – Bicocca.

The financial contribution will be paid in two instalments, one at the beginning of the period of study at the University of Milano-Bicocca, an the second after careful verification of the documents to be delivered at the end of the period.

Eventual renunciations of the EXTRAPLUS grant and of the related study period at the University of Milano-Bicocca should be put down in writing and mailed to the International Relations Office : [email protected] grants shall be awarded to the following candidates on the pass-list, which remains valid for 60 days after its approval.

A specific agreement should be formalized between the University of Milano-Bicocca and the foreign University (Co-tutorship Bilateral Agreement) in order to allow the student to spend a study period at the University of Milano-Bicocca for the preparation of his/her Second Cycle or Single-Cycle final thesis. The Agreement should specify the subject of the thesis in co-tutorship and must be signed by the two tutors/advisors, by the Rector’s Delegate for International Relations at the University of Milano-Bicocca, and by the Responsible at the student’s University of origin.

During his/her mobility period, the student must follow the rules and the academic calendar of the University of Milano-Bicocca. The dissertation of the final thesis will take place at the student’s University of origin, in conformity with its calendar and procedures. The compilation of the thesis in Co-tutorship does not imply the awarding of a Double Degree.
