Description
The MÖB Scholarships for doctoral studies and partial doctoral studies are granted for a period of 36 months those for partial doctoral studies for a period of 12 months. They are open for study in any field of arts and sciences during the granted period.
The scholarships must be spent at an accredited Hungarian higher education or research institution determined in advance. Scholarships for doctoral studies may not be extended. The scholarships are valid only for studies and research in Hungary. They are not valid for on-the-job studies, part-time studies or correspondence courses. The scholarship holder must stay in Hungary for the whole period of the scholarship.

Eligibility
Full PhD programme
Only students proficient in Hungarian can apply, the scholarship is conditional upon successful entrance exam / admission to the respective doctoral school.
Applicants are exempt who gained admission to a tuition-free program at an institution of higher education (state-financed university, full-time program), where the working language is different from Hungarian.
Partial PhD Studies
Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD programme at an accredited institution of higher education in his/her home country or in a foreign country (but not in Hungary).
Age limit for applicants: 35 years
Duration
Doctoral studies : 36 months ; Partial doctoral studies: 12 months.
Benefits
HUF 93 000 per month, paid by the host institution, and student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder.
Scholarship-holders from Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia who were granted their scholarship based on a bilateral agreement receive their stipend from the sending Party, the amount thereof is set by the respective scholarship offices. The host institute provides them with accommodation in a university residence hall.

Documents to be submitted:
Every application must contain two (2) copies of the documents listed below in one of the following languages: English, French or German in the order given. In addition online application will also be required on the HSB website.
In case one of the documents submitted (certificate of the highest degree/diploma, proof of enrolment, supporting documents) is not in one of these languages, it is requested to submit a translation thereof.

- List of publications
- Copy of highest degree /diploma
- Precise and detailed work plan - maximum two pages
- Certificate of proficiency in Hungarian - unless there is another agreed upon working language for the proposed course/programme (to be attached to the letter of invitation)
- Two letters of recommendation from two recognized experts in the relevant discipline
- Letter of invitation by the director of an accredited doctoral school in Hungary (in which he/she declares that the applicant can take part in a tuition-free programme if he/she is accepted in the doctoral school and the HSB scholarship is awarded to him/her). Applicants have to hand in the positive admission decision to the PhD programme of the respective Hungarian University´s Doctoral Council by 1st of August 2010 at the latest.
- Medical certificate of satisfactory health condition
Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be considered!
Application documents shall not be returned!
Art/music scholarships
Applicants for music/arts scholarships have to attach the following documents in addition:
- For painters, graphic artists and sculptors: photographs of three (3) works of art / sketches (with date)
- For performing artists (musicians) and conductors: high quality recordings of three (3) different styles of music, conductors have to submit three (3) original scores.
Applicants for graphic and fine arts as well as music may be required to take additional exams in the relevant Hungarian host institution before being granted a scholarship.
