Flemish Interuniversity Council - University Development Cooperation (VLIR-UOS) : Training Programmes
Description
All programmes are specifically designed for people in positions of responsibility in civil society (e.g. universities, schools, NGOs, local communities, governments).
The target group for master´s programmes comprises students from developing countries, although those from other countries are also welcome. Training programmes are tailored to people from developing countries with a certain degree of professional experience.
Although these programmes are primarily oriented towards students and professionals from developing countries, they are also open to other people. This website includes all the information you need to apply for a place on a given programme as a self-supporting student or a scholar. It also includes information on course content and application requirements.
The programmes for 2011 are:
Beekeeping for Poverty Alleviation
This intensive training course addresses all aspects involved in developing beekeeping into a powerful factor in rural development.
(Ghent University, Laboratory of Zoophysiology - 4 months (April 2011 - July 2011))
AudioVisual Learning Materials - Management, Production and Activities (AVLM)
This intensive training course addresses educational support staff that enhances their skills and competences in the proper use of new educational technologies and the production and integration of interactive learning materials into education and training.

International Training Programme in Food Safety, Quality Assurance Systems and Risk Analysis
This intensive training course addresses all aspects involved in food safety (microbiological, chemical and physical hazards) and the possibilities to control these hazards along the agri-food chain to intervene in (inter)national food safety problems.

Lib@Web - Management of Electronic Information and Digital Libraries
This intensive training course addresses all aspects involved in running and managing modern libraries with web-technology for library automation, digital libraries and electronic information resources. Emphasis is given to free open-source software and affordable electronic information resources and locally produced digital libraries.

Technology for Integrated Water Management
This programme provides students with a better understanding of water systems and the use of technology to enhance integrated water management and policy.

Application information
You can apply for a VLIR-UOS scholarship from the 1st of October 2010.
You must fill in the pre-screening form at the bottom of the page of the programme you want to follow. You may only choose one programme. If you apply to more than one programme your details will be entered more than once in our central database and all your applications will be inadmissible.
So you must follow the correct and complete procedure below.
- Apply on the VLIR-UOS website via the pre-screening form: fill in name, birth date, country, etc…;
- Receive a VLIR-UOS application/file number by return e-mail from VLIR-UOS;
- Apply on the website from the host university through the link mentioned in the return e-mail from VLIR-UOS;
- Write the received VLIR-UOS application/file number on the application file from the host university;
- Send a printout of your application file along with all required documents (diploma transcripts, motivation, etc…) to the International Office of the host university, not to VLIR-UOS.
Applications that are incomplete, illegible or that reach the host university´s International Office after the deadline will be automatically rejected.
