EADS TECHNOLOGY MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

We are very pleased to announce that the EADS Technology Masters’ Awards will be administered again through the Royal Aeronautical Society’s Centennial Scholarship scheme in 2011.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain support for your postgraduate studies and valuable work experience from one of the world’s leading aerospace companies and will provide a valuable foundation for your career in aerospace engineering.

EADS is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. In 2009, the Group - comprising Airbus, Astrium, Cassidian and Eurocopter - generated revenues of EUR 42.8 billion and employed a workforce of more than 119,000. Find out more about EADS at www.eads.com

In 2011, the awards will be available to students opting to study aerospace-related postgraduate programmes at recognised UK universities. There are six awards available annually, each with a value of £5000.00.

The EADS Technology Masters awards are paid to successful applicants in two instalments:

  • £3500.00 for tuition fees (paid directly to the university) during the academic year of study.
  • £1500.00 awarded following a successful work placement within an EADS company.

Eligibility

  • For 2011/12, applicants must have an offer letter to study for an MSc course at a recognised UK University within an aerospace, space or systems field.
  • Applicants must be UK nationals.
  • Applicants must have joined the Royal Aeronautical Society at the time of application.
  • Applicants must use the new application form for EADS Technology Masters applications (which will be available in March 2011.
  • The deadline for 2011/12 academic year applications is 27 May 2011.
  • Other conditions for Centennial Scholarship applications also apply.

Selection Process

EADS Technology Masters applications will be considered by the Centennial Scholarship Panel at the same time as other Centennial Scholarship applications. In addition, a representative from EADS will also consider the application and make recommendations to the Panel.

The decision of the Panel and EADS nominated representative is final and the other guidelines and award conditions that accompany the Centennial Scholarship scheme, as published on the website, apply.

If there are a high number of high-calibre applications for the EADS Technology Masters Awards, unsuccessful applicants will be considered for an ordinary Centennial Scholarship Award (maximum value of £3000.00, usually for tuition fee support) by the Centennial Scholarship Panel.

Finding a placement with EADS

If your application is successful, please note that it is your responsibility to find a work placement within EADS and thus become eligible for the second instalment of the award, post-placement. We will provide you with the EADS appropriate contact details if you are successful, but neither the Royal Aeronautical Society nor EADS are responsible for finding you a work placement. If you do not successfully secure a work placement, the final payment of £1500.00 will be all or partly withheld at the discretion of the Centennial Scholarship Panel Chairman and EADS representative.

The 2011 application deadline is 27 May 2011 - there will be only one set of applications annually from 2011. Application forms will be ready in March 2011.
